The handbook, which
has the backing of Formula One drivers such as Michael Schumacher,
David Coulthard and Jarno Trulli, aims to educate the younger drivers
and remind the more experienced drivers about all aspects of safety
in motor sport.
Schumacher, director of the GPDA, said: “This
booklet is an extremely useful accessory for any driver in the
sport from
karting to Formula One. If every driver follows these guidelines
then motor sport will be a much safer
|
environment and
that can only be good for all of us.”
Fellow GPDA director
Coulthard commented: “The safety booklet covers every aspect
of personal safety from clothing and equipment to hydration and
diet. Even the most experienced drivers will benefit from a reminder
of these safety measures before, during and after they race.”
The
handbook will be published later this year and distributed to every
new competition licence holder.
