Filmmakers from the SAFEisFast programme were on hand to record the action at the final 2012 Academy workshop
The 2012 FIA Institute Young Driver Excellence Academy came to its conclusion in August with a final workshop in Sachsenring, Germany.
The talented filmmakers from the Road Racing Drivers Club's SAFEisFast programme were there to document the action on and off the track.
The focus of the final workshop was on advanced driving skills and represented the culmination of all that the drivers had learnt throughout the year. The drivers used powerful rear-wheel drive cars to demonstrate driving lines as well as drifting and handling on various circuit sections and track surfaces.
This was backed up with further learning in the classroom with presentations from Toyota Motorsport Technical Director Pascal Vasselon, Edinburgh University Sports Psychologist Hugh Richards, and FIA Secretary General for Automobile, Mobility and Tourism Susan Pikrallidas.
As usual, overseeing the proceedings were Academy Performance Managers Alex Wurz and Robert Reid, backed up by their team of performance and driving coaches.
