Facility improvement programme

The Facility Improvement Programme aims to improve the safety standards and the economic and environmental sustainability of motor sport facilities around the world, especially in developing motor sport regions.

This will be achieved through the provision of advice via a facilities development consultancy. The programme will not, however, provide funding for physical improvements or development of facilities.

The FIA Institute has partnered with Apex Circuit Design, to develop a best practice framework for facilities sustainability. From 2010, Apex will also work with selected ASNs (or associated motor sport organisations) to help with the development or enhancement of safe and sustainable motor sport facilities. This work will be carried out in line with the best practice framework.

The framework is to be used by motor sport organisations to help them understand what is required to develop or enhance their facilities. In almost all cases, the motor sport organisation will need to seek external assistance to carry out a new facility development or facility enhancement.

Grants will be provided to ASNs from the Fund to support the above activities.
