Professor Gérard Saillant was unanimously elected as the new President of the FIA Institute at its General Assembly in Delhi. As one of the leading orthopaedic surgeons in the world, Prof Saillant has a huge amount of experience in sports medicine, especially in motor sport. He had been Deputy President of the Institute since 2006.

The FIA Institute brought together young drivers from around the world for the selection event of its 2012 Young Driver Excellence Academy. Over four days they were tested in every area, from fitness and psychology, to media performance and driving skill. On the final day, 18 drivers were selected for the Academy.
